1. This site is programmed to look identical on all major browsers. See below for a few differences in the performance of the Silly Slide Show, Pie Movie and smaller animations on PC/Mac browsers. On Netscape 3.0 and higher, you may notice that list items show up as characters that look like instead of white circles. To fix this, go into the font section of your browser and choose COURIER NEW off the list for "fixed font". On Netscape 6.x, set your font size to 20 for best readability. Also on Netscape 6.x/Mozilla, you must install the Quicktime plugin to hear background sounds on certain pages. Make sure you are careful to set up the Quicktime player to play .wav files. You MUST pick this off a list and it does not come as a default. You can get it at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
2. The Silly Slide Show works on all versions of Netscape, Internet Explorer and Web TV. It does not work on AOL version 3.0.
3. The Pie Movie works on v2.0 and above of Netscape and on Web TV. It should also work on AOL v.3.0 and up for Windows 95 & 98 ONLY as well as Internet Explorer V.3.0 and higher for Windows 95 and 98 ONLY. Make sure you set preferences/helper apps in Netscape to associate image/gif with "VIEW IN BROWSER". The movie will not play unless this option is set correctly.
4. Other small animations sometimes seen on the page (our witch flying past the moon and the twinkling stars) are only animated on V.2.0 and above of Netscape, Web TV and Internet Explorer for Win 95-98/AOL.
5. Help for problems with sounds (.wav, .ra, .rm, .mid files) can be found at the Sound Help page.
6. Blurry pictures using AOL? You MUST change a setting. Under "My AOL", choose "Preferences", then "WWW", then "Web Graphics". Make sure that the box next to "Use Compressed Graphics" is UNCHECKED. In AOL 3.0, go to "Preferences"/"WWW"/and make sure you check UNCOMPRESSED GRAPHICS or the graphics quality is very poor!
7. Streaming Audo (RealAudio) clips and our Java "Pandora's Box" will not play for Web TV users.
8. MPEGS do not play correctly on Web TV Classic since there is not enough RAM to download the clips to. What you see is the clip "streaming" and the quality is very poor. Web TV Plus owners may have better luck, though I have not tested this yet. It depends on how Web TV has handled the memory allocations in the Plus version.
9. We now utilize digital watermarking technology to protect our photo scans/retouching/colorizing. A "spider" constantly crawls the web looking for photos on other sites which are watermarked with our creator ID number. Reports are sent listing the web sites where any photos of ours have been found which have not been authorized for use. Watermarked photos, sounds or other materials are for use in your own personal computer and are NOT for inclusion in other web sites on related subject matter. All artwork, animations and HTML documents are © The Bewitched & Elizabeth Montgomery Web Site, and may not be reproduced in any fashion without our written consent.
